Psychotherapy for expats & internationals

Therapy in English

Crash landings, rough patches, feelings running the show? Finding support in a foreign country – and a foreign language – can feel like one hurdle too many. That's why I offer psychotherapy in English: in person in Wuppertal or online from anywhere in Germany and abroad.

Licensed & experienced

M.Sc. in clinical psychology, German state licence (Approbation), published author with S. Fischer and Beltz.

My approach

I work with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and clarification-oriented psychotherapy, combined with body-oriented methods. I'm convinced that if we want to move something in our lives, we have to get moving ourselves – feet included. The practice even has its own movement room.

My clinical focus areas:

Movement-based & body-oriented therapy – embodiment, body awareness, and occasionally therapy at the bouldering wall.
ADHD & neurodivergence – resource-oriented support for adults with ADHD or autism; I see neurodivergence as a variation of human experience, not a deficit.
Trauma-sensitive therapy – working gently, at your pace, with the body in mind (currently completing the DeGPT curriculum in psychotraumatology).

Who will you meet?

I'm Alexandra – psychologist, psychotherapist, author, and team psychologist for simulated space missions. My own path has taken plenty of turns: dance therapy, virtual reality research, science communication, a writing workshop for autistic people, a hospital in China. I know first-hand what winding biographies feel like – including the expat experience of finding your feet somewhere new.

I find it lovely when a therapeutic relationship is a meeting between two real people. If you'd like to know whether we're a good fit, the first session is exactly for that.

Online therapy, costs & insurance

Online sessions are available for all clients – publicly insured, private and self-pay – via a certified, GDPR-compliant video service, 50 minutes per session. For private and self-pay clients this works from anywhere in Germany or abroad; combinations are possible, e.g. regular online sessions with occasional in-person appointments in Wuppertal. For clients living outside Germany, we'll clarify the practical framework in the first session.

Private health insurance: German private insurers (PKV) and Beihilfe usually cover outpatient psychotherapy depending on your plan; billing follows the German fee schedule (GOP/GOÄ). I'll provide all documents and support you through the application.
Self-pay: You can simply start without involving any insurer – discreet, flexible, no application process. Fees follow the official fee schedule; we'll discuss the exact rate transparently in the first session.
Public insurance (GKV): I also hold a German public-insurance licence (Kassenzulassung) – sessions in person in Wuppertal or online, usually with a waiting list.
